Created by the team responsible for Dream Machine, Nightmare Machine offers a nine-room experience that “is the culmination of your greatest phobias and freakouts designed to be tactile and shareable.” These spooky spaces are centered around traditional scary situations like alien abduction, bugs, clowns, and more. While you’ll certainly be creeped out, the event is still noted as being PG-13, so it borders on family friendly. Nightmare Machine is open Thursdays through Sundays at 93 N. 9th St., Brooklyn – a quick commute from many apartments near Gowanus for rent.
Nightfall: A Moonlit Celebration, Oct. 19-20
This is your chance to experience the sprawling Green-Wood Cemetery at night by candlelight. You’ll be surrounded by ethereal sights and sounds while guided by thousands of candles as you wander along the cemetery’s winding paths. Along the way you’ll find musicians, performance artists, storytellers, and more.
