This year is the year to try new brew near your Gowanus apartment. Brooklyn is home to several breweries that you may or may not have had the chance to check out. In 2018, put exploring your borough at the top of your list of resolutions. When it comes to craft brews, Brooklyn is where it’s at. From well-known Brooklyn Brewery to new micro operations opening all over the place, the business of beer is booming. Here are some places to check out in the new year.

The Other Half Brewing, 195 Centre St.

Looking for a fancy night out near your Gowanus apartment? Keep looking. The Other Half Brewing offers a low-key, small but inviting atmosphere just blocks from 363 Bond Street. Opened in 2014, this brewery was founded by three dudes with this mission: “to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of.” The taproom on Centre Street is open seven days a week and offers a rotating tap list of their unique crafts. Using interesting blends of hops, flavors, and other ingredients, The Other Half Brewing has put out one-of-a-kind brews like Wangies (an Imperial Rye Cream IPA w / amarillo, citra, motueka, simcoe + wai-iti), as well as craft brews featuring bourbon, wine, and more.

Threes Brewing, 333 Douglas St.

Even closer to your Gowanus apartment, you’ll find Threes Brewing. With two locations, one in Gowanus and one in Greenpoint, this craft brewery is providing Brooklynites a wide array of delicious beers. Unlike other breweries, at Threes Brewing, you’ll find beers, food, wine, and craft cocktails as well. The brewery has an extensive list of craft brews for patrons to enjoy, with special blends coming through all the time. The location is open seven days a week, so you can enjoy a pint whenever you like.
