Mini golf. It’s a staple of summertime fun.

Most closely associated with shore towns and boardwalks, mini golf is making its way to Williamsburg in a big way this summer.

This year, you can enjoy a cool course that’s fun, informative and utterly unique!

Not Your Average Mini Golf

Like most courses, Putting Green Mini Golf features 18 holes with lots of clever themes and obstacles.

However, Putting Green’s goal isn’t simply to provide you with some summer fun. It also educates while it entertains.

Located along the scenic Williamsburg waterfront. Putting Green is a pop-up mini golf course designed to enlighten players of all ages about climate change.

Instead of purely focusing on the problems caused by global warming, this attraction shines a light on the many solutions we can use to help heal our planet. And it accomplishes this gola with fun and fantastic designs throughout the course.

As players approach each of the 18 holes, they’re treated to unique designs, sculptures and artwork that tells the story of a specific climate change challenge and the way to remedy it.

To make a deeper connection with visitors and New Yorkers, all of the designs were created by a multi-talented mix of local artists, school groups, advocacy agencies and community organizations.

Plus, proceeds from each admission helps fund local organizations dedicated to responding to the effects of climate change in NYC.

Green-Friendly Greens

Putting Green’s Mini Golf’s course themes and designs aren’t the only elements that help raise awareness of climate change issues. Its overall construction does too!

The bulk of this course was constructed using various green initiatives and elements, including:

  • Course bumper panels made from used tires.
  • Decks, planters and walkways constructed from reclaimed wood and bricks from old factories.
  • Water towers that use repurposed construction site steel drums.
  • Various decor fabricated from recycled materials found along the waterfront.
  • Designs that incorporate existing trees and greenery.

These and other eco-friendly elements add to the player’s experience and enjoyment of the uncommon mini golf course!

Get Ready to Golf

If hitting these eco-friendly mini-greens sounds good to you, plan on a trip to Putting Green this summer.

The course is open weekdays from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and on weekends from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Hours may differ on holidays, so be sure to call or check the website for additional details.

If you’re traveling by car, Putting Green is about 30 minutes away from 363 Bond Street apartments. Public transportation travel time is typically 45 minutes.

So what are you waiting for? Get some friends and neighbors together and go mini golfing along the waterfront. You’ll have a fun time, create new memories, and help make a difference in the efforts to reverse the effects of climate change.
